How to use Log Monitor in Applicare
FeaturedTo Enable Log Analyzer in Applicare configure profiling as below
- Go to Overview Menu and select the server and select Configure Dynamic Instrumentation button and add the Log Analyzer Service.
- Go to Home > Dashboard > LogAnalyzer
- Configure log files/Directory to monitor/analyze by going into LogMonitor Configuration tab.
3.1 Server: At most one server must be selected from drop down to configure log files.
3.2 File Path: Provide a log file path/folder containing log files that need to be monitored - it must be a valid path.
3.3 Regx: It is optional. If Applicare is unable to detect the Date pattern from log file then provide the Regex of Date pattern used in files would allow Applicare to monitor those.
3.4 Date Pattern: If Date pattern is provided then Regx must be provided. Below are the Date patterns and Regx that are auto detected by Applicare.
3.5 Add Watcher to Directory: This would be True by default and applicable for Folders alone. If this is set to true then any new file added to this folder is picked for monitoring else only on server restart the new files for the folder will be monitored.
3.6 Edit: This allows to Edit the Configured Log file. If path and server field are modified then updated content will be saved as new configuration else existing one would be modify.
3.7 Delete: This allows to delete the configured log file.
- Once logs files are configured it would take 2-3 mins to reflect in Dashboard.
4.1 Search: Search filter allows to filter the log entries that match the provided search filter. For multiple combined keyword full search use single quotes at the start and end of the searchtext.
For example: Connection refused
It will filter the results if it has either Connection or refused keywords.
For example: 'Connection refused'
It will filter the results if it has the exact keyword Connection refused.
4.2 From and To Date: Date filter allows to fetch all the log entries that fall between the selected date and time range.
4.3 Go: This appears as a refresh icon which acts as submit button to apply and fetch result based on the given filters.
4.4 Add Alert: This allows to add alert for particular search filter and for the particular log file in order to trigger an email/action whenever the provided search filter appeared in the log file for the next time.
4.5 Reset: This allows to clear all the provided filters.
4.6 Current Filter: This is the space to show currently applied filters with 'X' icon which provides to remove the filter.
4.7 Log Files: This lists out all the configured log files along with the Server on which they are configured. Provides the selection option by clicking on the particular log file to move into the filter.
4.8 By Date: This act as a calendar which plots the number of log entries available for a particular day, the day cell gets highlighted if entries are available on that day along with the count, on placing the mouse pointer on the highlighted day count gets a popup as a tooltip.
4.9 Graph: This plots all spikes with the log entries count ranges on the particular day provided drill down on spikes
4.10 Paging bar and Count display: This allows to select a particular page and shows the total log entries monitored and current page count.
4.11 Log Entries Space: This is the space where all the available log entries are shown along with the fileName and server in which the log entry available. Clicking it navigates to Viewer Tab where you can find the full stack of the particular log entry.
From Applicare 8 and above
Added a new feature named "Index from Current Time". With this option we can specify either to index the log files from beginning of the file or from the log configured time.
Log Monitor Configuration Screen:
- Index from Current Time -> "Yes". It will start indexing the log files from the log configured time.
- Index from Current Time -> "No". It will start indexing the log files from beginning of the log.
Viewing Logs in Dashboard for Index from Current Time -> "Yes"
Viewing Logs in Dashboard for Index from Current Time -> "No"
Log Analyzer Data Management.
1. Go to menu Manage Applicare Data.
2. Enter the Log Analyzer days value and click Save. Applicare will delete the data older than the specified timeframe.
Once the Data cleanup gets completed it will print the info message in the Applicare controller log.
Log Monitor Alert Threshold limit from Applicare 8.6.0 and above
1. We can provide the custom threshold limit while adding the log analyzer alert in the Log Analyzer -> Alert Configuration screen.
Threshold field is not mandatory. Default threshold limit is 0.
2. Create Alert
Email:
3. Clear Alert
