Applicare allows fine grain access control to the resources that are monitored by Applicare. A user can be given either full control or readonly access to a particular application consisting of many many servers in different geographic locations or a particular server. This way each Application administrator has access to their application resources and are not distracted by other application alerts.
Applicare Users
Applicare out of the box configuration has two pre defined users.
Super Admin ('admin')
The Super Admin user's id is fixed - admin. Super Admin user has all permissions to access every feature in Applicare. Default password for this account is 'admin'. You should change this password after installation is complete.
Guest ('guest')
In out of the box configuration, a guest user exists with id - guest. Default password for this account is 'guest'. This user is a readonly user and will need to be assigned access to specific applications/servers.
Applicare User Roles
Applicare user's access is controlled by assigning them a particular role. Following roles can be assigned in Applicare
Admin
The Admin role grants the user all rights to create/edit/remove users and control other user's access. Admin role just doesn't allow modifing or removing Super Admin's privileges.
App Admin
App Admin role grants the user access to administer and manage a particular application. Users with App Admin role are assigned application/s to manage by Super Admin or Admin
Read only
Read only role grants the user read only access and they can't make changes to monitoring.
Adding a user
Adding a new Applicare user is fairly simple. Fill in user's details, select the applications and assign the role. Application for access control are application created in Applicare at the time of adding the app server/server agents to Applicare. These are NOT the .ear or .war applications deployed on app servers.
